The Zanzibar Broadcasting Commission (ZBC) is responsible for regulating, licensing, and supervising broadcasting services in Zanzibar. The Commission ensures compliance with laws and standards, supervise ethical broadcasting, manages content quality, supports media development through training and research, handles public complaints and strengthens cooperation within the broadcasting sector locally and internationally.

TO INSPECT BROADCASTING BUSINESS
To inspect institution which carry on broadcasting business.
TO GIVE DIRECTION TO THE BROADCASTING BUSINESS.
To give any direction to the broadcasting business which in its opinion deem necessary.
PROTECTION OF CULTURE AND TRADITION
To protect policy, security, culture and tradition of Zanzibar not to be destroyed.
BROADCASTING STATIONS REGISTRATION
To maintain a register of all person licensed as broadcasters, dealers in broadcasting stations.
REGULATION AND MANAGEMENT
To supervise and regulate broadcasting activities to ensure accountability and efficiency in the media sector.
ISSUANCE OF LICENSES
To regulate the issuance of broadcasting licenses in accordance with laws, procedures, and national standards.
CONTENT MANAGEMENT
To oversee the quality of content on radio, television, and digital platforms.
PROTECTION OF ETHICS AND STANDARDS
To ensure that broadcasting content adheres to ethics, culture, and professional standards
